Artists have always been inspired by their travel experiences. I am starting to put my love of travel together with my love of portraiture by focusing on the beauty of these two women, Durga from India and Esiankiki from Tanzania.
One of the most strikingly heart-warming rewards of travel is to feel the sheer humanity we share with other people who live at such distances from us, wearing different styles of clothing and living in different styles of shelter. Everyone works to care for themselves and their families. Everyone loves their children and interacts with their neighbors. Everyone shares their meals, creates things of function and beauty, makes music and dances, and they smile and laugh and cry.
I look forward to savoring more of my travel adventures by continuing to revisit people and places of the world in my artwork.
